High temperatures and the increase in seasonal travel put critical vehicle systems under pressure. For the aftermarket supply chain, it becomes essential to rely on spare parts that are dependable, available and technically consistent with real operating conditions.
Every year, the summer season represents a real testing ground for the aftermarket sector. High temperatures, long journeys, heavy traffic, fully loaded vehicles and more demanding operating conditions place significant stress on several vehicle systems, making preventive maintenance a key step in ensuring safety, continuity of operation and driving comfort.
In this scenario, the role of distributors and workshops takes on strategic value. It is not simply a matter of responding to seasonal demand, but of managing, with expertise, a phase in which the quality of the spare part directly affects the efficiency of the repair, the reduction of vehicle downtime and the satisfaction of the end customer.
Heat accelerates the ageing of materials, increases pressure within circuits and makes the difference between a component designed according to strict technical criteria and a spare part chosen solely on the basis of price even more evident. Some product lines therefore become particularly relevant in summer maintenance: radiator hoses, expansion tanks, turbo hoses, brake hoses, engine mounts, shock absorber mounts and components of the suspension system.
The cooling system is one of the first areas affected by summer conditions. Radiator hoses, expansion tanks and caps operate in an environment where temperature, pressure and the quality of the coolant directly affect continuity of operation. A small leak, a weakened expansion tank or a deteriorated hose can quickly lead to vehicle downtime, especially during long journeys or in heavy traffic conditions.
Turbo hoses are also particularly exposed. In turbocharged engines, they operate under high temperatures, pressure and vibration. Loss of power, whistling noises during acceleration, drops in performance or anomalies in air pressure may indicate a compromised component. In this area, material quality, resistance to oils and hydrocarbons, and the correct sealing of clamps are essential technical requirements.
The summer season also brings attention back to the braking system. Loaded vehicles, long descents, urban traffic and high temperatures increase stress on brake hoses. Cracks, swelling or internal wear can alter pedal response and compromise braking efficiency. For this reason, checking these components is one of the most important inspections during periods of increased mobility.
Engine mounts, shock absorber mounts, suspension arms, silent blocks and stabilizer links also play an equally important role. During the summer, vehicles often face longer distances, different road surfaces and heavier loads. These components contribute to vehicle stability, driving comfort and vibration control — aspects that are becoming increasingly central with the evolution of modern hybrid and electric platforms.
